Obedience in marriage is a natural gift from God to man and woman. It is not an undue demand laid on anyone. It is the recognition of their dignity as creatures of God, free and rational beings, that they may be more perfectly themselves when they are one with each other.
obedience in marriage
In marriages, obedience is a difficult virtue to attain. This is due to the fact that married couples are made up of two people with two different personalities and backgrounds. When each partner tries to exert their own will on their spouse, conflict ensues and neither gets what they want. Obedience in marriage requires understanding from both spouses. However, this does not mean that the submissive spouse is acting like a doormat for the dominant partner.
Personally “Obey”… has no business in the relationship between two adults, most especially a marriage. Mutual respect, kind consideration, reasonable flexibility, and sensible agreement are what works in a HEALTHY marriage! imagine my husband saying, “You didn’t obey me”! it sounds more like lording over me, and typical me will respond “…and who are you obeying?” Obey signifies that your word is the law.
How about he use “you didn’t listen?” sounds more like it!
Listen signifies both party’s opinions count.
Obey vs submission vs agreement .. how do you define submissiveness without adding obedience?
Obey your father and mother -how is this obedience different from spousal’s?
Is there anything wrong with the word obedience? Two adults are supposed to sit down and reason together like adults. No one person should be throwing orders around like the other person is a child. When couples reason mutually with understanding, there won’t be the need for that word because everything will flow effortlessly.
what does obedient wife mean?
One of the most common phrases in a marriage relationship is “Obedient wife”. This phrase means that the wife has to obey her husband in everything. However, this phrase is not only used by men and women who live in ancient times. Today, there are more modern ways to use it today. Even though, this phrase is being used more often now because women are playing an important role in society. They have become more independent and they have learned how to speak up. Some think it means that she should be a doormat for her husband, while others think it means she should sacrifice everything to please him. But that’s not what being an obedient wife really is all about. Here are some things you need to know in order to understand this concept better:
Obedience is a virtue typically learned in childhood. There are many different forms of obedience, but they often revolve around how well someone respects the person in authority. Most often, this person is one’s parent, but it could also be a teacher, coach, boss, etc. When someone has an authority that they are following, they are typically obeying that person.
In the context of marriage, obedience is typically between the wives and their husbands. The obedience can either be voluntary or compulsory. If it is voluntary, then it typically is the wife agreeing to the husband’s wishes. If it is compulsory, then generally the wife has no choice but to comply. Either way, the wife is generally obeying her husband.
Same way parents demand obedience from their children because they are under their care which in many cases they are subjected against their will and choices.
How to get your wife to obey you
Many men are faced with the same problem: how to get your wife to obey you. And, this situation is particularly common if the wife is a strong-willed person. A percentage of Men will complain to whoever cares to listen that their wives are not submissive enough, Meanwhile, this is all about “Obey” this is where a wise woman will ask her partner what is his own definition of Obedience? you will find out a thousand and one different definitions and you will be shocked too at your new discovery…each for his own.
To solve this problem, you must understand that it’s a matter of giving her what she wants at least some of the time, and that means giving her something other than logic and reason.
